Tarangire National Park
The Land of Giants - famous for massive elephant herds, ancient baobab trees, and exceptional dry season wildlife viewing.
About Tarangire National Park
Tarangire National Park is Tanzania's sixth-largest national park, famous for its massive elephant herds, iconic baobab trees, and diverse birdlife. The park is named after the Tarangire River, which serves as a lifeline for wildlife during the dry season. During the dry months from June to October, wildlife concentrates along the river, creating one of the highest densities of animals in Tanzania - second only to the Ngorongoro Crater. The park's ancient baobab trees, some over 1,000 years old, create a dramatic backdrop for wildlife viewing. Often called "The Land of Giants," Tarangire is home to some of the largest elephant herds in East Africa, with super-herds of 300 or more individuals commonly seen during the dry season.
